TRADER JOE’S

"Nothing could live up to the animations you made for the conference"

     - Trader Joe's

When Trader Joes’ VP of Marketing, Matt Sloan, sought to inspire captains at their annual meeting; they contacted us. Matt had a series of letters he wanted to bring to life in a fun and exciting way. After receiving the letters, we decided to convert them into a series of voicemail messages. Reading each letter out loud made the shoppers more real and their needs more immediate.

We reached out to our network of actors in New York City and casted award-winning actors and actresses, men and women, from seven years of age to those in their mid-fifties. After casting, recording, and adding audio effects to make the quality of the audio sound more like real voicemail messages; our team of artists, animators, and producers got to work.

In the end, the team delivered the final product with ease and ahead of schedule. Matt and his team appreciated how smooth the process went. We followed up that project with the Horseradish Cheddar announcement – a fun, exciting way to talk about how Trader Joe's comes up with new products.

Script: While stargazing one evening, we wondered, is there intelligent life on other planets? And what would happen if you combined wavy kettle-cooked potato chips with cheddar cheese and horseradish? This is John Basalone of Trader Joe’s. We’re still working on that first one, but we’ve answered the second question with Trader Joe’s Cheddar and Horseradish flavored potato chips. In the wild, the pungent flavor and aroma of horseradish is a natural defense against herbivores. In Trader Joe’s, that same flavor is a natural attraction for snackers. The horseradish is balanced with the richness of cheddar cheese. The flavor leans just a bit in the direction of cheddar, with the horseradish providing a good kick. Meticulous chip analysis determined that a wavy surface best secures this flavor combination. Cheddar and horseradish potato chips are made in small batches exclusively for Trader Joe’s. We’re selling each 7oz. bag for $1.99 every day; a value as irresistible as the chips. For location of the Trader Joe’s in your neighborhood, check us out at traderjoes.com. Thanks for listening!
